With the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) delaying the central contracts announcement, one of the brightest talents in Indian cricket, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has decided to take a major change in his career. The 23-year-old, who is currently plying his trade for Rajasthan Royals (RR) after being retained for INR 18 Crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, is set to make a massive shift in his domestic cricket career.

After playing for years for Mumbai, Jaiswal has reportedly decided to quit the team and join Goa from the next season onward. If reports are to be believed, Jaiswal have written an email to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), seeking a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to change his state cricket team. His decision follows that of Arjun Tendulkar, Siddhesh Lad, who moved to Goa in recent past.

Yashasvi Jaiswal seeks NOC to join Goa Cricket ahead of 2025-26 season: Reports

As per a source from the MCA, as quoted by The Indian Express, "He has sought an NOC from us and has cited that the reason for his move to Goa as personal." The Goa Cricket Association's Secretary Shamba Desai told PTI, “He wants to play for us and we welcome him. He will be playing for us from the next season”, thus confirming his move.

Seeing this come into reality, reports have also added that Jaiswal could well captain Goa when he is not on national duty. “Yes, that can happen,” Desai replied when asked if Jaiswal could be a captaincy candidate for the state. “He plays for the Indian cricket team so he can be the captain and we will work in the direction to appoint him. Regarding his availability (for the domestic competitions), we are yet to speak,” he added.

Jaiswal played for Mumbai recently in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy campaign after a poor outing in the BGT 2024-25 in Australia. His decision to participate in the doemstic tournament came after the BCCI mandated red-ball cricket for Indian’s centrally contracted players.
