On Wednesday, June 5, the Indian cricket team started their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign in style at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, bundling out Ireland for just 96 runs in a Group A match. The Indian bowling lineup was exceptional on a challenging pitch, making the Irish batters dance around, which prompted a plethora of hilarious fan reactions on X.
For the unversed, after winning the toss, the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, inserted Ireland into bat first, and his bowlers were on their mark from the get-go. After Arshdeep Singh picked up the openers Andy Balbirnie and the captain Paul Stirling quite cheaply, it was Hardik Pandya, who broke the back of the Irish middle order.
Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Axar Patel were quite good with the ball for India, chipping-in with key wickets to restrict the Ireland batting lineup under 100 runs.
