Jammu & Kashmir all-rounder Vivrant Sharma is hopeful of representing Sunrisers Hyderabad in the upcoming IPL 2023 and looks up to Yuvraj Singh as his inspiration. Vivrant was one of the takeaways from the recently concluded IPL 2023 auction after Sunrisers Hyderabad secured the young talent for Rs. 2.6 crores.

The southpaw entered the auction at the base price of Rs. 20 Lakh, but soon became a hot topic as franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad showed keen interest in acquiring the services of the prolific all-rounder. The two franchises engaged in intensive bidding before SRH finally got hold of Sharma. Now, with a hope to play in the world's biggest T20 league, Vivrant opened up about a plethora of things.

The J&K all-rounder revealed his inspiration while speaking to The Quotes. Vivrant admitted that he is excited to join the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp as a player – the allrounder was part of the SRH camp as a net bowler during IPL 2022 – and wants to make the most of the opportunity.

“I have been preparing hard for this opportunity, and confident of my potential. I have always been inspired by Yuvraj Singh and want to contribute to Indian cricket as he did. He did everything he could for the nation, and reached the epitome of the game,” Vivrant said. The all-rounder is not just a fine middle-order batter but also possesses the ability to spin the ball. He further assured that he will give his 100 per cent and will try his best to do well for the franchise.

“The price at which the franchise has picked me in IPL 2023 is an indication of the responsibility and trust they have bestowed on me. I am aware of this fact, and will look to live up to the expectations," Vivrant added.

He further claimed that players like Abdul Samad and Umran Malik drew a lot of traction towards the raw talent which exists in the J&K region. “Talent always existed in Jammu and Kashmir. A lot of credit goes to Abdul bhai and Umran Malik for bringing a lot of attention towards the region,” said SRH’s new signee.

Vivrant believes that his recent performance in the domestic circuit was one of the reasons that franchises showed so much interest in him. In this year's Vijay Hazare Trophy, Vivrant played a crucial role in J&K’s run till the quarter-final as he finished as the highest run-getter for his team with 395 runs in eight matches at an average of 56.42 and a strike rate of 65.40. Moreover, he picked up five wickets.
