Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is set to return to the field but this time in a different sport. The former Indian all-rounder has always been a big fan of golf and has been spotted playing the sport many times after bidding adieu to international cricket. And it seems Yuvraj is now ready to begin a new career in golf.
The World Cup-winning player is set to play in the Icons series, which is scheduled to start on June 30 in New York. The inaugural edition of the tournament will include some of the biggest names from the world of sports.
Michael Phelps, Michael Strahan, Canelo Alvarez, Ash Barty, Pep Guardiola, Harry Kane, and Yuvraj Singh are some of the sporting legends who are set to be part of the tournament.
Yuvraj Singh on Wednesday took to Instagram to announce his participation in the tournament.
“Calling all Indians in New York and New Jersey, I’ll be heading to New York next week to play in the @iconsseries at @libertynationalgc and we need your support to cheer us on!”, Yuvraj captioned the post.
The event will take place from June 30 to July 1 and will be held at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City. The competition will feature a 10-hole team match-play tournament format. Team USA will battle Team Rest of the World for the trophy, with 12 icons per team, captained by golf legends Fred Couples and Ernie Els, respectively.
Earlier, Yuvraj Singh and his wife Hazel Keech revealed the name of their baby boy. Taking to social media, Yuvraj shared pictures of the couple with their son. "Welcome to the world Orion Keech Singh," Yuvraj wrote in the caption along with a heart emoji. "Mummy and Daddy love their little "puttar". Your eyes twinkle with every smile just as your name is written amongst the stars," he added, along with the hashtag #HappyFathersDay.
