On Saturday, July 13, the Indian cricket team defeated Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in the fourth T20I, to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series. At the Harare Sports Club in Harare, the captain Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched together an unbeaten stand of 156 runs, to take India over the line with 28 balls to spare.
After winning his fourth straight toss on the T20I tour to Zimbabwe, Shubman Gill, the captain of India, decided to field first. The opening pair of Wessly Madhevere and Tadiwanashe Marumani provided a very good start to Zimbabwe, stitching a 63-run stand to set up a platform for the middle order to capitalise on.
But after the openers lost their wickets in quick succession, only the captain Sikandar Raza provided some impetus to the Zimbabwean innings with his 46 off 28, which is why they could get up to 152/7 in their allotted overs. Khaleel Ahmed was the pick of the Indian bowlers with a couple of wickets in the last over of the innings.
In pursuit of the 153-run target, Yashasvi Jaiswal took the attack to the Zimbabwean bowlers in the powerplay over, putting India in complete command of the contest. Shubman Gill, who was struggling to get his touch in the early stage of his innings, got some boundaries away in the middle overs to reach his fifty.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had scored his fifty much earlier than his opening partner, was hitting boundaries at will right throughout his innings, finishing up the day with 93 off 53, which included 13 fours and two maximums.
