It’s been a shocking week for Indian cricket in Dubai as the one of the strongest favourites of T20 World Cup 2021 have now been outplayed by both Pakistan and New Zealand in all departments. Team India currently find themselves with 2 losses in 2 matches and are standing on brink of elimination from the mega event. The situation comes as a massive setback for the whole cricket fraternity, who had touted Kohli and Co. to be one of the best-ever sides coming into the tournament.
But unfortunately, nothing has gone right for the Indian side in the tournament so far. From losing tosses to early fall of wickets, they have started both the games on a disappointing note and have failed to recover from the early damage. While Pakistan handed them a thumping 10-wicket defeat in 17.5 overs, New Zealand also wreaked havoc and won the match by 8 wickets in only 14.3 overs.
While the fans flooded social media with tweets reacting on India’s dismal show in UAE, former cricketers also gave their honest opinion about the performance of Men in Blue.
Laxman, Sehwag, Harbhajan and others react on India’s defeat
VVS Laxman admitted that this defeat will definitely hurt Team India as he opined that some of the shot selection that we saw on Sunday from the batsmen was indeed questionable. On the other hand, Virender Sehwag was also left disappointed with body language of Kohli and Co. as he claimed that the team will need some serious introspection after this performance.
While Harbhajan Singh urged everyone to not be too harsh on the players since they would be hurt the most by this defeat, Mohammed Azharuddin admitted that it turned out to be a scary Halloween for all the Indian fans. Irfan Pathan accepted the fact that time is running out for India in the mega event and only a miracle can help them turnaround their campaign.

This defeat should hurt Team India. Tentative with the bat, their shot selection was questionable. New Zealand bowled superbly, but India made their task easier. With their net run rate also taking a beating, a semifinal spot looks a distant dream #INDvNZ #T20WorldCup

Very disappointing from India. NZ were amazing. India’s body language wasn’t great, poor shot selection & like few times in the past, New Zealand have virtually ensured we won’t make it to the next stage. This one will hurt India & time for some serious introspection #IndvsNZ

Virat Kohli is facing criticism but it’s the entire team and the coaches that have failed and not just one man.
It turned out to be a scary Halloween for Indian fans. #INDvsNZ #T20WORLDCUP— Mohammed Azharuddin (@azharflicks) October 31, 2021
Well done NZ you were too good today. And for team India, they need to get together and perform miracles. Time is running out. #indvsnz

After two back-to-back defeats, India will now lock horns with Afghanistan on October 3 and would be hoping for a win to keep themselves alive in the tournament.
