On Friday, South Africa defeated India in the third and final Test to clinch the three-match series 2-1 at Newlands in Cape Town. India started well in the series by winning the first Test match by huge margin of 113 runs, but was shocked by hosts as they defeated visitors by 7-wickets in subsequent two matches.
After a controversial third day of the match, fourth day witnessed Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma taking South Africa comfortably over the line with ease, snatching away India's best chance to register their maiden victory on South African soil.
After the match, Michael Vaughan tried to take a dig at the Indian team while targeting former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer, with whom he usually gets into banter on social media. Vaughan tagged Wasim in a tweet and asked if he is doing okay. His tweet read, "Evening @WasimJaffer14 !! Just checking you are ok," to which the former Indian batsman quickly replied, "Haha all good Michael, don't forget we are still leading you 2-1," trolling the former England captain.
Notably, Jaffer took a dig at Vaughan recalling him India are still leading the five-match Test series that was curtailed to four matches last year against England. The fifth and final Test in Manchester last year was postponed due to COVID issues. India were leading the five-match series 2-1 before it came to a screeching halt.
The duo never fails to entertain fans
This is not the first time when both former players have indulged in Twitter banter. Recently, when England were all-out for just 68 in the second innings of the third Test against Australia at MCG, Jaffer posted a video showing Vaughan's a year old tweet in his phone reminding Vaughan if he regrets his words where Vaughan sarcastically commented saying, "Can’t believe any team would get bowled out for under a 100 these days."
Notably, India were bowled out for 92 in an ODI against New Zealand in Hamilton in January 2019, after which the 47-year old had tweeted taking a dig at Indian batting line up. And just like always, Jaffer waited for the right moment to give a reply back to Vaughan. After this fun banter on Friday, let's see what's next in store for fans in this exciting social media battle between the two former cricketers!
