India women's team captain Mithali Raj has been featuring in international cricket for so long now. The veteran batter has probably achieved everything in her cricketing career. From the most number of runs for a women's cricketer in ODIs to featuring in the list of top five best batting averages, Mithali Raj has done everything right so far. But the cricketer still dreams of a World Cup title.

This may be the year when India lifts its maiden World Cup title as the Women in Blue prepare for the mega event in New Zealand. And this tournament may be the last one for Mithali Raj as well. The India captain has indicated that she may hang her boots after this year's World Cup. Although she did not talk about it directly, Raj left a hint about the same.

"When I retire after this tournament, I will see that the squad is far stronger with the upcoming new talent," Mithali said at the post-match press conference. It's quite evident from the statement that she is giving retirement a thought now. Raj has been a pillar in India's batting lineup over the years. Not having her in the setup will leave a big void but the captain has backed young talents to take up the role when she retires.

India end New Zealand series with a win

While Mithali may be giving retirement a thought, winning the World Cup remains the top priority for the team. India were lucky to get a chance to get acclimatized to the New Zealand conditions before the mega event. The Women in Blue had a poor start to the five-match ODI series as they lost the first four games. However, with a win in the last game, Mithali and Co. can take away the positives and now focus on the areas that remain a concern for them.
