Newly appointed BCCI President Roger Binny has hit back at former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi over latter’s statement of ICC favoring India in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. The shocking comment from former Pakistan all-rounder came after Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan appeared upset with the way match against India resumed few minutes after heavy rain in Adelaide.
Although, Bangladesh skipper didn’t admit anything openly, but few Pakistan journalist and Shahid Afridi claimed that Shakib was miffed with the way the game started despite outfield being too wet. Speaking to Samaa TV, a Pakistan journalist claimed that Shakib Al Hasan looked completely upset and it was visible on big screen. “You saw the ground how wet it was. But I feel that the ICC is somewhat inclined towards India. They want to ensure that India reach the semi-finals at any cost,” said the Pakistan journalist.
Even Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi reiterated the same line by claiming that ICC is favoring India and wants them to qualify for the semi-finals of the ICC tournament. Meanwhile, BCCI President has finally opened and lashed out the Pakistan cricketer for making such ill-logical comment despite being such an experienced cricketer.
“Not fair, I don’t think we are favored by ICC. Everyone gets some treatment. No way in which you can say that. What do we get different from other teams? India is a big powerhouse in cricket, but we are all treated the same,” Roger Binny told ANI.
While India is almost qualified for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 after putting up a great show in the Super-12 stage including beat arch-rivals Pakistan in the opening fixture, Babar Azam-led side is nearing the end of the tournament with their chances heavily depending on the results of others team.
Rohit Sharma & Co. will play against Zimbabwe on November 6 (Sunday) in Melbourne while Pakistan will play its final Super-12 stage game against Bangladesh at Sydney Cricket Stadium.
