Afghanistan and Ireland settled with one point each on October 28 (Friday) as the massive rain forced umpires to call of the match without a single ball being bowled. Placed in group 1 alongside Australia, England, New Zealand and Sri Lanka, both the teams are having a very little chance to qualify for the further round due to fierce opponents in the group.
Ireland and Afghanistan are both Test playing nations and have been promoted by ICC from associate nation to a full member. The clip of the discussion is being widely circulated on social media and many have expressed their disappointment with the knowledge of such prolific players.

Despite getting Test status in the year 2017, Ireland has only played three Test matches so far, losing all three of them. Their first game was against Pakistan in May 2018, following which they faced Afghanistan and England in 2019.
According to fresh Future Tour Program 2023, Ireland is set to play one-off Test against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, England, and Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, Afghanistan is scheduled to play two Test matches against Bangladesh in June-July 2023, and two Test matches against Zimbabwe in July-August 2023.
