Strongest XI of Gujarat Titans
The team will be without former skipper Hardik Pandya, who led the side to two consecutive finals. However, even with Pandya’s absence, GT have a well-balanced squad. In this article, we will have a look at their strongest playing XI, which might help them clinch their second IPL glory.
Openers: Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha
India’s emerging batting superstar Shubman Gill will be at the team’s helm after Hardik Pandya’s exit from the team. Gill performed exceptionally well in the previous season, with 890 runs in 17 games at a strike rate of 157.80. Gill was the leading run-scorer in the 2023 season and will be expected to do the same.
Wriddhiman Saha is another name in Gujarat’s squad, and he will be expected to give the side a stable start along with Gill. Middle-order batters: Kane Williamson, Sai Sudarshan, Vijay Shankar, David Miller
Kiwi batter Kane Williamson missed the entire season of the tournament after getting injured in the inaugural game against reigning champions Chennai Super Kings. The batting stalwart has been an active league player since 2015 and has recorded 2101 runs in 77 matches at a strike rate of 126.03. Willamson is indeed a highly experienced player, and his experience will help the side do well in the 2024 season.
Sai Sudarshan played in eight contests for GT and hit 362 runs with a strike rate of 141.40. In the finale, Sudarshan contributed 96 runs from 47 balls, adding to the excitement and thrill of the final contest.
India batter Vijay Shankar was bought by Gujarat Titans ahead of the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League. The 33-year-old played 14 matches for his side in the previous season and contributed 301 runs averaging at 37.63.
In Hardik Pandya’s absence, David Miller will be expected to perform more efficiently in the middle order. The 34-year-old Proteas batter scored 481 runs in 16 matches in the 2022 season. Later in the 2023 World Cup, Miller scored 356 runs in 10 games at a strike rate of 107.87.

All-rounders: Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan
Gujarat Titans would want Rahul Tewatia to stand by the team’s side in 2024 and guide them to victory in the forthcoming season. Tewatia couldn’t deliver a notable performance in 2023, but he has performed quite decently in the current domestic sphere. Tewatia scored 352 runs for Haryana in the 2023-24 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Afghan player Rashid Khan has been one of the most consistent players throughout the franchise in the past editions. In the previous season, the all-rounder picked 27 wickets in 17 fixtures he was a part of. Not only this, but his frequent heroics with the bat also make him a reliable batter at times of need.

Bowlers: Umesh Yadav, Spencer Johnson, Mohit Sharma
Veteran India player Umesh Yadav received a record deal of his career in the tournament when he was bought by the 2022 winners at ₹5.80 Crore. Yadav, who last played for India in the WTC Final 2023, has experienced 141 matches in the tournament and is currently the 13th-highest wicket-taker. Needless to say, the 36-year-old cricketer will be a valuable addition to the team and will lead the bowling unit of his new franchise in the forthcoming season.
Mohit Sharma had a fantastic 2023 season in the tournament, with 27 wickets from 14 games to his record at an economy of 8.17. The former CSK bowler ended up at the second spot on the highest wicket-taking list.
Spencer Johnson, the latest addition to the GT squad, has been an active name in Australia’s domestic sphere for more than five years. He has played a total of 22 T20 games with 20 wickets to his name. The youngster is expected to deliver the same kind of services to his latest franchise.
