In a recent move, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has joined Pakistan Cricket Board’s umpiring and match referee course. PCB has introduced online Level 1, 2, 3 courses to develop match officials and have successfully concluded the Level 1 training. What is surprising is that Butt was banned from the sport for almost 10 years for alleged spot-fixing in 2010 in a Test match against England.
Besides Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif were also punished for spot-fixing along with the 36-year-old who was the then captain of Pakistan. With the news coming in of Butt taking the course for umpiring and match referee training, fans are shocked at the ironic move and have hilariously reacted on the same.

im not sure what’s harder to comprehend, salman butt being an umpire or shubman gill’s catch being ‘play of the match’

Some fans are taking a dig at PCB and Butt, sarcastically appreciating the move
Bravo, this is indeed a great move by PCB. Hopefully he will not be able to distinguish between a right ball and no ball but will be able to distinguish between a genuine, spontaneous accidental no ball and premeditated fixed no ball.

Others feel that this is rather ironical given that he himself was banned for fixing

Irony will be Salman butt judging other players for fair play.
