IPL 2022 Mega Auction is almost upon us. All the franchises are busy making their auction wish list. All the franchises would look to get the best players available at their disposal in the auction. Talking about Rajasthan Royals, they were inaugural season champions back in 2008. Under legendary leg spinner Shane Warne’s captaincy, Rajasthan played some brilliant cricket.
This year, Rajasthan Royals has retained their top three batters in Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and captain Sanju Samson. Now they will be looking to build a strong team around them.
Let’s take a look at few overseas players that RR would target in upcoming IPL 2022 mega auction.
-
Jason Holder

The West Indian all-rounder seems to be a perfect fit for Rajasthan Royals. Holder has incredibly transformed into a pure all-rounder. In last season IPL, Holder got 16 wickets and scored 100+ runs from that no.7 position for SRH. With a Base Price of 1.5cr expect a bidding war for Jason Holder.
-
Devon Conway

Seeing this name here you might have got surprised but this New Zealander has proved his worth in T20 World Cup which was recently concluded. Devon Conway was key for New Zealand at no.4 in their T20 WC Campaign. He will be perfect fit for Rajasthan as with the top 3 sorted, they need someone at 4 who can play big shots allowing their captain Samson to play the anchor role. So, Devon Conway at base price of 1cr would be perfect for RR.
-
Mathew Wade

Another good option for Rajasthan Royals will be Wade. The dashing left handed Australian batsman can be a handy option to have at no.4 or no.5 in your team. Wade has shown us throughout T20 WC campaign how destructive he can be in any position. Another advantage of having Wade is that he is flexible enough and can bat at any position from 1 to 7 in batting order. Also Wade can put on gloves to stand behind the wicket if needed. If Rajasthan can get Wade at his base price for 2cr then it would be a steal for them.
-
Wanindu Hasaranga

Hasaranga has been very good for Sri Lanka in recent years. He is rare commodity in market as he is leg spinner who can bat at no.8 and can hit the ball big enough. Hasaranga would give Royals guaranteed 4 overs of spin plus few hits with the bat at 8. For Sri Lanka he has taken 52 wickets in 31 innings while maintaining a stunning economy of 6.21 in T20 cricket. When comes to IPL he only played half a season last year with RCB wherein he wasn’t given enough chances. Also getting in Hasaranga will draw Sri Lankan connection as Rajasthan Royals head of cricket is none other Sri Lankan legendary Batsman Kumar Sangakkara. At base price of 1cr, he would be perfect choice for RR.
-
Mark Wood

The English bowler is known for his pace and bounce. Wood can be that bowler for RR who can consistently bowl 140 plus and provide them breakthroughs whenever needed. Also Wood has good slower ball too which means he can even bowl in middle overs if needed. RR are looking for someone who can come lead their bowling attack and Mark Wood will be an ideal candidate for RR.
