AB de Villiers has been one of the most successful players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has provided his services to Royal Challengers Bangalore for a decade. Due to his batting style, the South African batter enjoys a massive fan following. Interestingly, while participating in the RCB podcast, de Villiers expressed that he would have never made it to the Indian team if he were born in India.
Citing the reason for the same, de Villiers added that one needs to be unique for making it to the India squad. While speaking at the RCB podcast, de Villiers expressed his gratitude towards the Indian crowd for showing so much love towards the cricket and the player himself.
Notably, Mr 360 has made himself unavailable from IPL 2022 while announcing retirement from all forms of cricket. However, de Villiers also emphasised that playing for RCB changed his life for good. “RCB to me is family. I mean, it has been a life-changing They’re amazing rides; there’s a bit of everything,” he said.
De Villiers also added that he has no regrets in his life, and when he looks back to his journey with RCB, he feels extremely proud and regarded his tenure with RCB as the “best days of his life.” He also expressed his feelings of playing in India and believes he is extremely fortunate that he got an opportunity to play in front of an Indian crowd and got to witness the Indian way of doing things for the last 15 years”, said ABD while speaking on The RCB Podcast.
Meanwhile, the former South African batter also revealed that he would have never played for India had he been born in India. Clarifying his statement, he said, “one needs to be a very special player to make it to the Indian team. He said, “Growing up in India would have been interesting. Maybe I would have missed out on playing for India; who knows. It is tough to make it to the Indian team; you have to be a special player”, he said. ABD finished his last season of IPL with 313 runs from 15 games as RCB were knocked out in the Eliminator.
