The stage is all set for the 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup 2024, set to begin on June 1 and will go on till June 29. The marquee tournament will see a total of 20 teams clashing for the coveted title in the USA and the West Indies. The Black Caps will begin their campaign against Afghanistan on June 8 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
Three New Zealand players who will play last T20 World Cup in 2024
While the tournament will be an exciting affair for some, others will play their last T20 World Cup this year. In this article, we will have a look at three names who are most likely to represent the Kiwi nation for the last time in the T20 World Cup.
Kane Williamson
New Zealand seasoned batter Kane Williamson is all set for his sixth T20 World Cup and fourth season as the leader for the side. Williamson had a decent run in the previous edition of the tournament and guided the side to the semifinal, where his side lost to Pakistan by seven wickets. The Kiwi batter had a challenging past year with regular injuries that kept him out of action for quite some time. Not only this, but Williamson played only two games in IPL 2024 and wasn’t able to make a significant impact with his skills.
Williamson is already 33 years old and by the next edition, he will be 35. In addition, owing to his regular injuries, it is highly likely that he might call it quits on the T20 format or entire career, altogether.
