Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka was left fuming after she came across a video showing a father brutally beating his daughter on social media. The Belarusian, who serves on the player council said she is well aware of such incidents that take place too often. She then called the incident disgraceful and demanded justice for the young girl. Notably, the video is reportedly from Serbia.
The original video was posted by Igor Juric, a Serbian activist who advocates against violence after he was sent the video by a source. According to Juric, the family in the video is originally from China and he has filed a criminal lawsuit against the father and will try to ensure the safety of the child as well.
“Another brutal violence from a father against his daughter. I was informed that this is a family coming from China. We will be filing criminal charges against this monster as well,” Juric wrote. Meanwhile, Azarenka strongly condemned the incident demanding justice.
"I don't know who this person is, but wtf is this?!? People filming for this long without intervening, absolute disgrace. And it happens so much, there has to be accountability. Please report who this person is if somebody knows,” wrote Azarenka.
Coming to the viral video, the coach who is also the father can be seen brutally hitting a young tennis player, who is said to be 14 years old. The video shows the man hitting the girl in the stomach and then in the head. He later pulls her hair and drops her to the ground where he continues his aggression. The reason revealed for the heinous act was that the player was not following the coach's instructions.
Although the video shared has been removed for some reason, it garnered enough attention from across the globe. People demanded strict action against the person involved. Former Australian tennis player Rennae Stubbs also reacted to the incident saying such incidents were too common.
"Wow disgusting!!! Sadly this happens ALL THE TIME but we sadly don’t have it on film. Anyone who abuses their kids is just a POS," Rennae Stubbs tweeted.
