The whole world is amped for the inevitable battle between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev at the UFC 280 PPV in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, this Saturday.

However, a recent announcement from the UFC President, Dana White has caused the fans more excited for the fight! As per White, the current UFC Featherweight Champion, Alexander Volkanovski will face the eventual winner between Oliveira and Makhachev.

Now, this is an interesting development for Volkanovski. The current Featherweight will get a chance to square off inside the octagon and become the contender for the Lightweight championship as well, which is vacant currently.

The last Lightweight champion was ‘Do Bronx’, who was recently stripped of the title because he tipped the scale half-pound too heavy for his title defense at UFC 274.

The rivalry between Oliveira and Makhachev is perhaps the best storyline in the UFC right now. The two are set to lock horns this Saturday. ‘Do Bronx’ has been pretty vocal about how he will dominate Makhachev inside the octagon. However, Makhachev has a pretty impressive record of 22-1-0.

Charles Oliveira thinks he is still the UFC lightweight champion

‘Do Bronx’ is one of the most decorated fighters to ever lace up a pair of gloves. He holds the record for the most number of wins via submission. However, earlier this year, Oliveria was stripped of his lightweight championship because he missed the weight.

Recently UFC uploaded a promo video for the Oliverira-Makhachev fight. In that video, the 33-year-old fighter stated that he is going in [against Makhachev] as a champion.

"I showed them I'm the true champion [after defeating Justin Gaethje]. I'm going for another title defense. I'm not going to win back a title. I'm going to defend it. Nobody can take that out of my head. Charles is still the lightweight champion. The champion is Charles Oliveira. Charles 'Do Bronx'."

The whole world is currently looking forward to this fight. Both fighters have an excellent ground game and will try to choke each other out during the fight.
