Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri refused to take sides in the Rohit Sharma vs Virat Kohli debate. He also brushed aside the possibility of any rift between the India captain and his predecessor. The two heavyweights are among the best Indian batters of all time and have been providing their services to Indian cricket for more than a decade now.
Despite no credible evidence in the public domain, Indian cricket fans often discuss a dispute between both. The topic got much life when Rohit succeeded Virat Kohli as an all-format skipper.
As also evident on the ground, Rohit and Virat Kohli a great camaraderie, and the duo even featured in a video for BCCI TV following Virat's 71st international century in the Asia Cup 2022. In that video, Rohit interviewed Virat and the duo also talked about their plans for Indian cricket.
Meanwhile, Ravi Shastri was recently asked about his understanding of the Rohit vs Virat topic, and much to everyone's expectation, the former Indian cricketer termed the topic 'rubbish.'
"To hell with them. All of this is merely time pass for you guys. I don't have the time for this. Everything is fine. There is a good tuning between them. Everything is first-class. Keep on doing it. There was a 100-run partnership between them, but you guys are stretching it. This is a trivial matter," Shastri told veteran Vimal Kumar.
The World Cup-winning cricketer also talked about Virat Kohli's historic 82* run knock against Pakistan in their T20 World Cup opener and called it 'one of Virat's best knocks.'
"I think that will be one of the finest T20 innings in his career. No doubt about it, because the stage was that big. It was against Pakistan, the match was stuck for India, so to score runs there under pressure is a big thing. I don't need to say anything. The world has seen it, they will judge it and he will put it as one of his best," added Shastri.
