For the unversed, it was the Sri Lanka duo of Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama, who registered three-figure scores for their side, to help them post a commanding total of 344/9 on the board in their allotted 50 overs. After the early struggles, it was Abduallah Shafique, who got a hundred on debut for Pakistan in the ODI World Cup, coupled with the unbeaten 131 off 121 from Mohammad Rizwan to help the Men in Green achieve a memorable triumph.

On October 12, Thursday, Farid Khan, one of the cricket journalists from Pakistan, took to his official Twitter account to share the video of Mohammad Rizwan talking about how his hard work, coupled with the grace of god, helps him as a sportsperson. At one point during the press conference, he was quoted as saying, “Allah toh India ke Virat Kohli ka bhi hai, Joe Root ka bhi aur Steve Smith ka bhi hai (The god is not only mine, it is also of India’s Virat Kohli, Joe Root, and Steve Smith).”
