Defending champions India are set to take on their arch-rivals and neighbours Pakistan in the final group-stage clash of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024. The table toppers will be clashing against Men in Green on Saturday, September 14. Both India and Pakistan have secured their berth in the semifinals of the tournament on the back of their undefeated feat in the competition so far. Speaking of their individual campaign, India began their defence with a seamless win 0-3 over another neighbours, China. Later, they recorded a 5-1 win over Japan and extended the tally with an 8-1 win over previous finalists Malaysia and made it to the semifinals of the tournament. In their last match, Indian team defeated 2021 champions Korea 3-1 to move to the top spot of the standings with 12 points.
On the other hand, Pakistan registered two consecutive 2-2 draws against Malaysia and Korea. Then, they went on to secure a 2-1 win over Japan. Pakistan moved to semifinals with their easy 5-1 win over China. Their 19-year-old Hannan Singh is the second-highest scorer with four goals.
