The India men’s 25m rapid fire pistol team won the bronze medal on Monday, September 25, at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. The trio of Vijayveer Sidhu, Anish Bhanwala, and Adarsh Singh won the third medal of the day in shooting for India as they edged out Indonesia, who had the same score. Both Indonesia and India received qualifying scores that added up to 1718, but the Indians took third place due to a higher number of inner-10s.
India came in first with 45 "x", while Indonesia came in fourth with only 37 "x". China topped the standings with a world record score of 1765, while Korea finished second with 1734 hits. Vijayveer’s score of 582-18x will make him the only Indian representative in the final as Adarsh and Anish were knocked out with scores of 576-13x and 560-14x respectively. Adarsh finished 14th, while Anish finished 21st after a disappointing second round.
Aishwary Singh Tomar wins bronze in 10m Air Rifle
Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar won the second medal for India in shooting as he won the bronze medal in the men's 10m air rifle event. Lihao Sheng of China took the gold medal with a world record, an Asian Games record, and an Asian record of 253.3 points. South Korea’s Hajun Park took the silver medal with 251.3 points, while Pratap Singh was third with 228.8 points. Tomar edged out fellow Indian Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil in a shoot-off to assure himself of the bronze medal.
Tomar finished third behind Sheng and Park in qualification but dropped to fourth place following the first elimination series before dropping to fifth place after the second elimination series. After 20 shots in the final, Tomar and Rudrankksh had both found themselves tied at 208.7. Rudrankksh was eliminated as Tomar notched up 228.8, having had two more attempts on the target.
