Thomas Craig, the Australian men’s hockey player, has reportedly got himself arrested in Paris for trying to buy cocaine during the ongoing Olympics. Although the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) haven’t officially named the identity of the men’s hockey player arrested in Paris, they did confirm that the incident happened with a statement on Wednesday, August 7.
According to the Indian Express report, the incident involving Thomas Craig happened in Paris on Tuesday night, August 6, after the Australian men’s hockey team were eliminated from the Paris Olympics 2024. It has been revealed that Thomas Craig was apprehended red-handed while looking to purchase cocaine on a street in Paris.
The spokesperson of the AOC said the following about the arrest, “The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has confirmed an Australian hockey team member is in custody after being arrested in Paris on August 6th. No charges have been laid. The AOC is continuing to make enquiries and arrange support for the team member.”
The seller of cocaine to Thomas Craig was found in possession of a heavy quantity of various narcotics, the case got handed over to the Narcotics Squad in Paris.
Moreover, in the Paris Olympics 2024, the Australian men’s hockey team, considered one of the best teams in the world, were eliminated from the competition in the quarter-final stage. The Netherlands got the better of Australia 2-0 in a one-sided knockout match at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir.
