Former India wicket keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik admitted to the ‘blunder’ he made by not including MS Dhoni in his all-time India XI. Notably, Karthik recently found himself in hot waters after he revealed his all-time India playing XI on the occasion of Independence day. What came as a surprise for cricket fans was that he did not include MS Dhoni in his squad. This left many shocked and disappointed as fans couldn’t fathom how Karthik didn’t include Dhoni in the squad, considering the latter is known as one of the most successful wicket keepers.
As a result, Karthik was brutally trolled by many cricket and MS Dhoni fans. However, the former cricketer and commentator responded to the uproar and explained that Dhoni’s omission was a genuine mistake committed by him. Karthik spoke in the latest episode of his show on Cricbuzz and said that it was not his intention to omit the former Indian captain. He admitted that while creating his playing XI, he had forgotten to include a wicketkeeper, which led to Dhoni being left out.
Here is the clip of Dinesh Karthik's apology to MS Dhoni fans:
The 39-year-old said, “Bhai log. Bada galti hogaya (Guys I made a big mistake.) Genuinely it was a mistake.” He added, “I realised when the episode came out. There were so many things happening that when I put this 11, I forgot the wicketkeeper. Luckily Rahul Dravid was there and everybody thought I was going with a part-time wicketkeeper. But genuinely I didn't think of Rahul Dravid as a wicketkeeper. I forgot to have a wicketkeeper? It is a blunder.”
Notably, Karthik’s playing XI which erupted controversy was: Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Anil Kumble, Jasprit Bumrah and Zaheer Khan. He included Harbhajan Singh as the 12th man.
