In a shocking and downright soul-wrenching event, a badminton coach has been arrested in Bengaluru, Karnataka, for allegedly rapid a 16-year-old girl on multiple occasions. It is understood that the accused, who is identified as a 30-year-old from Tamil Nadu state, had explicit pictures of 7-8 girls, and he worked at a badminton training centre in the Hulimavu area where the teenager was training to pursue a career in the sport for the last couple of years.

As per the report published in the Times of India, the rape offence came to the surface after the girl had sent a nude photo of herself to the accused badminton coach from the WhatsApp account on her grandmother’s phone. The initial investigation from the police revealed that the girl is currently awaiting her results of the 10th board exam, and due to that, her parents sent her to grandmother’s home for vacation.

Over there, the grandmother found the nudes of the teenage girl sent to an unsaved number from her WhatsApp account on the phone, and it led to her alerting the parents of the teenager. After the mother of the girl talked to her about what had happened, she spoke about being sexually abused by the accused badminton coach on multiple occasions.

He appears to be a habitual offender who has been targeting minor girls: Bengaluru police on rape accused

The girl also told a police officer about how she was taken by the coach to his house nearly 25 times, skipping dance classes and tuitions for it, and now, the accused has been arrested after the parents of the teenager approached them. A senior police official was quoted as saying about the matter, “When we checked his phone, we found nude photos and videos of seven to eight other girls, all aged 13-16 years, who took training at the same sports centre. He appears to be a habitual offender who has been targeting minor girls.”

“He has been taken into police custody for eight days. Since the girl's clothes were washed every time after she met him, we have to investigate the case thoroughly and collect other evidence,” the senior police officer added.
