Ravichandran Ashwin, one of the premier spinners in world cricket, has taken a cheeky dig at DRS, during the fifth and final Ashes Test at The Oval. The 36-year-old, who is currently on a break from Team India duty, sent out a post on Twitter to state that the ball tracker seemed to be high on the bounce.

The Indian cricketer is no stranger to the Decision Review System (DRS) calls not coming in his favour, from time to time, throughout his franchise and international cricket career. One of the biggest DRS controversies happened during the Cape Town Test, for India against South Africa, during the final match of the series in early 2022.

Then, Dean Elgar was given out LBW off Ravichandran Ashwin’s delivery, by the umpire on the field. The call from Marais Erasmus seemed absolutely correct to everyone involved, including the players, commentators, and fans watching at home.

But the left-handed batter, who took the DRS in hope, managed to get the decision overturned after the ball tracker revealed that the trajectory of the delivery was going over the stumps. It had led to tempers flaring on the field amongst the Indian players, with Ravichandran Ashwin mocking the broadcasters of the Test series, “SuperSport,” on the stump microphone.

Back to the fourth day’s play during the Ashes Test, when Todd Murphy managed to get James Anderson LBW to end the second innings of England, the batter took the DRS, which revealed that the delivery had just clipped the top of the stumps on umpire’s call.

It led to the world-renowned off-spinner, tweeting, “The ball tracker(DRS) at the Oval seems to be high on bounce,” with a face with tears of joy emoji.

When a fan sent out a tweet in the comments section, which read, “The Aussies didn’t say “try better ways to win sky sports”,” Ravichandran Ashwin responded back by saying, “True they didn’t! Cos they got umpires call at least” with another face with tears of joy emoji.

Another fan, who took a dig at SuperSport about the matter, made the 36-year-old laugh out loud in the comments section.
