After humiliating Manchester United by 6-3 last weekend, defending champions Manchester City defeated Southampton 4-0 to go on the top of the Premier League 2022-23 points table on Saturday. Before their meeting with the Saints at the Etihad Satdium, City star Kevin de Bruyne threatened to burn a United jersey during a Belgian podcast.
The 31-year-old Man City playmaker reportedly took home Cristiano Ronaldo's Manchester United jersey after the derby at the Etihad Stadium on October 2.
Kevin de Bruyne made an appearance on Belgian podcast Mid Mid and was offered a Red Devils' jersey having his name and number on the back. As reported by the Mirror, the host can be heard saying "It’s a dream", but the City midfielder was quick enough to reject the thought and said, "Can I burn it now?" and "most dreams aren’t real".
Meanwhile, Manchester City dominated Southampton 4-0 as Manchester derby hattrick heroes Erling Haaland and Phil Foden, both found the back of the net once while Joao Cancelo opened the goal scoring for City in 20th minute. City winger Riyad Mahrez also scored a goal in his side's victory after just five minutes into the second half.
City are scheduled to face arch-rivals Liverpool in an away game on October 16 at the Anfield.
