Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty marched into the final of the men’s doubles of the China Masters 750 tournament. The Indian top-seeded duo defeated China's He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu in straight games to enter the summit clash of the competition in Shenzen on Saturday, November 25.
The former world No. 1 Indian pair, which had won its first BWF World Super 750 title at the French Open last year, recorded a 21-15 22-20 win over the newly formed pair. Ting and Yu had come on the back of a title-winning run at the Japan Masters. In the final of the tournament, the Sat-Chi pair will lock horns with another Chinese pair.
They will meet the winners of another semi-final clash between Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi and second seeds Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang. 2023 had been a stellar year for the Indian men’s duo as they won the Badminton Asian Championships, Indonesia Super 1000, Korea Super 500, Swiss Super 300, and the Asian Games gold medal.
Notably, the BWF tour is divided into six levels, namely World Tour Finals, four Super 1000, six Super 750, seven Super 500, and 11 Super 300.
