Chennai Super Kings crowned Ravindra Jadeja with a new nickname after his remark in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders. The five-time champions locked horns with Shreyas Iyer-led side in the 22nd clash of the tournament on April 8, Monday. During the game, Ravindra Jadeja bowled a brilliant spell and finished the game with 3/18 figures in four overs, helping the side record their first win after two consecutive defeats.

Not only this but the CSK all-rounder became the only player in the IPL history with 1000+ runs, more than 100 wickets, and 100 catches. He was adjudged the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance in the game. During the post-match ceremony, Jadeja was asked about the feat, he said that he had no idea about the record. He went on to joke that both MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina have got special nicknames from fans, and he is yet to receive his.

Jadeja said, ''My title hasn't yet been verified, hopefully they'll give me one. I always enjoy my bowling on this track. I was hoping the ball grips a little and if you bowl in the right areas it helps you. For visiting teams, it takes time to settle in and plan.” The franchise was quick to reply and minutes later, they posted on X, “Verified as cricket thalapathy”. It came after Harsha Bhogle tweeted, “@ChennaiIPL are you going to give Jadeja the ‘verification’ for ‘Cricket Thalapathi’?

Notably, CSK fans and the franchise lovingly call MS Dhoni ‘Thala’ (Leader) and Suresh Raina ‘Chinna Thala’ (leader’s right-hand man). The match saw CSK defeating KKR by a margin of seven wickets.
