New Zealand star batter Rachin Ravindra, who is a part of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025, suffered an injury during the ODI Tri Series match against Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on February 8. While fielding during Pakistan’s innings, Ravindra attempted to take Khushdil Shah’s catch but failed terribly.

Rachin Ravindra failed to judge the direction of the ball and ended up getting hurt directly on the face. The incident took place during the 38th over of Pakistan’s innings where Ravindra was escorted out of the stadium after getting injured on the face. Reacting to the incident, former Pakistani skipper Rashid Latif slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the uneven adjustment of the LED lights at the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium.

"There is an issue in the LED light. It has more glare and sometimes it is hard to spot the ball when it is coming flat to you,” Latif was quoted as saying by Sports Tak.

PCB replies to Rashid Latif, puts blame back on Rachin Ravindra

After Rashid Latif slammed the PCB for the poor lights adjustment that injured Rachin Ravindra, the board failed to take the blame on rather blamed the New Zealand batter for not judging the ball correctly that was coming towards him. Former Pakistani skipper Salman Butt also defended the ball stating that the blame is ‘irrelevent.’

“There's no point trying to make people understand when they don't want to. It's irrelevant. These are some of the latest LED lights that have been installed, so these are fine. When New Zealand players hit sixes off deliveries bowled at close to 150 kph, were the lights not working then? A player who was standing 70 meters away failed to take the catch because of his misjudgement. He is a fine fielder, but perhaps his leg slipped, and he got hurt," Butt said as quoted in Hindustan Times.
