The Indian Premier League 2024 player auction is scheduled on December 19 in Dubai. The franchises are asked to announce the names of retained players by November 26. It will be for the first time in the 17 seasons that the player auction will be held overseas. Every franchise has been given a purse of ₹100 crore to build their teams for the forthcoming season.
The player purse has seen an increase of ₹5 crore from the previous edition, which was at ₹95 crore. The team purses will be updated on the auction day, depending on the players they have released and the amount that they didn’t use in the 2023 season.
Speaking of each team’s player purse, Punjab Kings have the largest player purse at the moment with INR 12.20 crore (USD 1.47 million) - while Mumbai Indians have the smallest at INR 0.05 crore. If we talk about other teams, Sunrisers Hyderabad have INR 6.55 crore (USD 0.79 million) in their purse, while Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals have INR 4.45 crore (USD 0.54 million).
Furthermore, Lucknow Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore have INR 3.55 crore (USD 0.43 million), USD 3.35 crore (USD 0.40 million) and INR 1.75 crore (USD 0.21 million), respectively. In addition, Kolkata Knight Riders have a total of INR 1.65 crore (USD 0.2 million) while the defending champions Chennai Super Kings have INR 1.5 crore (USD 0.18 million).
