Hasan Ali, the Pakistan fast bowler, has expressed his wish to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) if the opportunity comes around in the future. The 29-year-old talked to a Pakistan channel about how every cricketer wants to play in the IPL, calling it “one of the biggest leagues in the world.”
In the history of the IPL, there has been only one season when the cricketers from Pakistan were allowed to participate in the tournament. During the inaugural season in 2008, Shoaib Akhtar, Shoaib Malik, Salman Butt, Kamran Akmal, and Sohail Tanvir were some of the Pakistani cricketers who experienced the grandeur of India's franchise league for the first and the last time.

Despite the fact that the cricketers from Pakistan haven’t been involved with the IPL in the last 15 years, the popularity of the franchise league is seemingly not dwindling among them at all. Hasan Ali was quoted as saying to Samaa TV, “ Every player wan ts to play IPL and it is my wish to play there. It is one of the biggest leagues in the world and I will definitely play there if there is an opportunity in the future.”
Moreover, Hasan Ali recently played for Pakistan in the ODI World Cup, which was held in India in the months of October and November this year. He picked up nine wickets in six matches at an average of 35.66 and an economy of 6.29 in the CWC 2023, but he wasn’t able to take Pakistan to the semi-final round.
