Over the past week, a video of a young boy has gone viral on the internet, where he is seen carving through defenders some magical footwork. Soon it was circulated that the clip was of footballing great Lionel Messi’s son, Matteo Messi as fans immediately jumped in to name the kid - ‘The Next Messi’.

The video was also titled, ‘Mateo Messi. Like father, like son,’ but recently it was revealed that it wasn’t Matteo Messi’s video, rather it was this eight-year-old named Amine from Amsterdam, who has been playing for the local side Atletico Club Amsterdam. In the clip, Amine is replicating the Argentine star as he manages to nutmeg one defender before cutting to blow past another one which immediately put the internet in a frenzy.

The video was originally posted on Amine’s Instagram page which is handled by his mother. Funnily, Amine’s Insta bio says ‘#thenextgenerationmessi’ as he idolises the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner. But this hasn’t been Amine’s first viral internet moment as the Dutch wonder kid as he already has over 30,000 followers on Instagram. With this talent and ability, football fans should be on the lookout for young Amine, who in coming years, could possibly be running through your favourite defender.

Talking about Lionel Messi, the 2022 World Cup winner, is set to enter a new chapter of his career as he transitions out of European football to play in the American Major League Soccer, as he is set to play for the David Beckham-owned Inter Miami.
