Former Seahawks and Ravens running back Alex Collins suffered a tragic motorcycle crash on Sunday night. Collins’s motorcycle crashed into a SUV and the impact of the crash led to Collins being displaced from his vehicle, leading to his sudden demise. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman whose SUV crashed into Collins motorcycle called 911 and was distraught at the horrific accident. Bystanders rushed to help but it was too late. Authorities stated that the investigation around the incident is still ongoing. Photos from the scene of the crash surfaced and show Collins’s mangled motorcycle as well as the other victim’s damaged SUV.
The woman was hysterical when she called 911, and she was so upset and dazed by the situation that she wasn’t able to fully process what had happened. Upon calling 911 to report the crash, the woman screamed that she couldn’t find him. She was unaware that the impact of the collision had sent Collins hurtling into her SUV’s backseat. Bystanders shouted at her that she should open her door and that the body was inside her car. Investigators stated that it was not clear whether or not the woman was at fault for the crash. Her Chevrolet had made a sharp left turn during relatively heavy traffic. The unexpected turn saw Collins crash into the rear side of her SUV.
Police do not confirm whether or not charges will be brou ght
It is unclear as of now whether or not charges will be pressed by Collins’s family against the other victim of the accident. This is likely to be due to the fact that investigations surrounding the scenario are still ongoing and that it is up in the air as to who was responsible for the crash to begin with. The woman involved was very upset about the situation and has invoked Marsy’s Law to protect her identity while the investigations are carried out.
Collins death has led to numerous tributes being paid to the young player. The Ravens stated, “With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Alex Collins. Always quick to greet everyone with a smile, he was a genuinely kind person who carried a special joy and passion wherever he went. May Alex always be remembered for the light and love he brought to so many people in his life.”
The Seahawks said, “Absolutely heartbroken. Prayers are with the Collins family.” Collins was drafted by the Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2016 draft. He had a solid run with Seattle and Baltimore before leaving the NFL in 2021. He was going to make a comeback in the league this year with the Showboats prior to the tragedy.
