The Indian ace pair of Satwiksairaj R ankireddy and Chirag Shetty crashed out of the French Open 2023 on October 26, Thursday. The newly crowned world number 1 duo slumped to their Indonesian rivals Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan. The Asian Games gold medallists went down 23-25, 21-19, 19-21 in a thrilling neck-to-neck contest.
After losing the first round to the three-time world champion pair, Satwik-Chirag made a solid comeback in the game and won the second round to force a decider. The Indian shuttlers were looking promising initially but fell short of their opponents in the final round and crashed out of the Super 750 badminton tournament. Notably, Satwik and Chirag were coming on the back of a win over World No. 34 Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar in the Round of 32.
