In a shocking incident, German boxer Musa Yamak died due to a heart attack during a fight. The 38-year-old crumbled in the ring during his bout with Uganda's Hamza Wandera in Munich on May 14 (Saturday), as per the New York Times.

The President of the Turkey-Palestine Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, Hassan Turan confirmed the death of the boxer on Twitter on May 15.

“We lost our compatriot Musa Askan Yamak, a boxer from Alucra, who won European and Asian championships, at a young age after a heart attack.

“I wish God's mercy on the deceased, whom we met at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey when he came to Ankara for the competition, and my condolences to his sad family and fans,” Hassan Turan posted on Twitter.

Yamak had suffered a heavy blow in the second round by Wandera and was seen struggling after the completion of the same. Prior to the third round, he tried hard but could not recover and dropped in the ring. It can be clearly seen from the below video that the boxer could not gain consciousness after heavy blows.

The medical team rushed into the ring to revive him and was even sent to the local hospital. However, the doctors declared him dead.

“The paramedics saw turbulent scenes of emotionally charged fans and family members on site. To ensure the safety of the paramedics, we sent out a lot of patrols,” a spokesperson of the Munich Police told the German-tabloid newspaper BILD.

"We then set up a protection corridor on-site so that the paramedics could work safely and conscientiously,” the spokesperson added.

After turning pro in 2017, Yamak took part in eight knockouts and won them all, which is the reason for him being called the ‘undefeated boxer’. He had earned recognition by winning the WBFed International title in 2021 as well.

Earlier this year, Armenian-born Russian boxer Arrest Sahakyan had passed away as well after suffering a head injury.
