Despite the Indian women’s astronomical growth over the past few years, there still is this divide among coverage and representation of the Women in Blue in social spaces. In a major victory regarding this issue, a screenshot of a Google search has gone viral where the entry, ‘Indian Cricket Team Captain’ generates Indian men’s captain Rohit Sharma and women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur as results.

Earlier, a prompt like this would lead to images of Rohit Sharma with Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who is touted to be India's next captain and has led the side in T20 matches over 2023. This was shared by a cricket journalist, Subhayan Chakraborty, who tweeted thanking Puma cricket, who had launched a campaign regarding raising awareness about Women’s cricket.

The tweet said, Good on @pumacricket to run various campaigns in a bid to make this possible. A few months back, the same search on Google would have shown only Rohit Sharma's name. Now @ImHarmanpreet is there as well as it should be. Well done
