Star Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin left the cricketing fraternity in shock after he made a sudden announcement of his retirement from international cricket amid the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy down under. The 38-year-old called off his international career after the third Test of the five-match series in Brisbane on December 18. Recently, Ashwin gave his first interview after retiring from international cricket.
In his interview, R Ashwin said that he has no regrets on his international career and revealed how he love the sport. The off–spinner also mentioned giving his 100% despite knowing that his method is not the most popular one in the sport. "I just gave it my all, despite knowing it's not the popular or accepted method, My journey is completely mine," Ashwin was quoted as saying by SkySports.

Speaking further, R Ashwin also mentioned how he observed some players developing their skill over the years and how he explored the game of cricket during his international career. “"I've seen a lot of cricketers over the years with exceptional skill and talent, but the ability to articulate or teach another person about it is something that is very unique and comes across to people only if they have explored it themselves,” Ashwin said.
"I've got no regrets because I've had to do it the hard way, but it has left me with the idea that the game has been my calling. People find their calling at different stages of their life but I'm so glad this game found me and it has given me meaning to life,” he further added.
R Ashwin has played 106 Test, 116 ODIs and 65 T20I for India taking 765 wickets in all three formats combined. He also retired as the second highest wicket-taker for India in Test cricket with 537 scalps. Despite retiring from international cricket, Ashwin will be seen in action again for Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming season of the IPL in 2025.
