According to the prosecution, Pinto illegally gained access to the email account of Ronaldo's lawyer and provided information regarding the rape allegation to the German magazine Der Spiegel. As part of the ongoing case, more than 100 individuals, including Cristiano Ronaldo himself, have been summoned to testify by the prosecutors.
Apart from Ronaldo, Pinto targeted football clubs and more
Rui Pinto, known for his involvement in the Football Leaks scandal, is regarded as a hacker by some and a whistleblower by others. In addition to accessing emails related to Cristiano Ronaldo's lawyer and the rape allegations, Pinto also gained unauthorized access to emails from various organizations and individuals.
Among the football clubs targeted were Benfica, whose emails Pinto later shared with Francisco J. Marques, the director of communication for FC Porto. Marques had already been convicted in a separate trial for disclosing these emails.
Pinto's unauthorized access extended to emails from other football clubs, including Rio Ave, Leixoes, Moreirense, and Vitoria de Guimaraes. He also targeted organizations such as the Club League, judges and prosecutors, the National Internal Security Network, the Tax Authority, journalists from the Cofina communication group, and the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God.
Pinto has already faced trial in relation to the Football Leaks case, where he is accused of 90 computer crimes and extortion. The verdict for that trial is expected to be announced on July 13th.
