On Saturday, July 13, India Champions defeated their arch-rivals Pakistan Champions to lift the inaugural edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL). While the Yuvraj Singh-led side entered the final after beating Australia Champions, the Pakistan Champions defeated West Indies Champions to setup the summit clash at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham.
As the two sides took the field, Pakistan Champions stood out in the toss battle, winning and opting to bat first. On the back of Shoaib Malik’s 41-run knock, along with crucial contributions from Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Maqsood, Pakistan posted 156 runs on the board. However, the Men in Blue comfortably chased the total in 19.1 overs to triumph over their arch-rivals.
Seeing Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan hit the winning runs for the India Champions, former India spinner, Harbhajan Singh was left in tears as he rushed to hug his compatriot, Irfan. Following the win, Bhajji, as he is fondly called as, could not contain his emotions as he hugged the Indian all-rounder, pictures of which have been doing rounds on social media.

Moreover, the Irfan Pathan, who wrapped up the India innings, roared in celebration before congratulating his teammates and receiving a special hug from captain Yuvraj Singh. After the victory, Harbhajan said, “Winning the Championship and winning against Pakistan means a lot. Chak de India.”
