For the unversed, Pakistan are currently playing their first warm-up match of the ODI World Cup 2023 against New Zealand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on September 29, Friday. After winning the toss, Babar Azam decided that his team would bat first, but they lost the wickets of the openers Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique cheaply.

In absence of Fakhar Zaman at the top of the order against New Zealand, the poor start for Pakistan could give a few headaches to the team management in regard to finding the best possible opening pair for the ODI World Cup 2023 opener against Netherlands on October 6. Talking about the Instagram post from the left-handed opening batter, he captioned it, “Hello, Bharat!” accompanied by hand waving emoji, to win over the hearts of many in India.

Meanwhile, after a poor start, the two senior pros of Pakistan, the captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan stitched together a 114-run stand for the third wicket to resurrect the innings. Azam scored 80 off 84 with eight fours and two sixes, while Rizwan got 103 off 94 with nine fours and two sixes before retiring hurt, which helped the team to post a massive score of 345/5 in their allotted 50 overs.
