Hockey India on Sunday, October 20 announced 22-member squad for the upcoming bilateral series against Germany, set to take place later this month. The Indian team will play against Germany in a two-match series, set to be played on October 23 and 24 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.

The Indian team will be led by Harmanpreet Singh, whereas Vivek Sagar Prasad will be his deputy. Moreover, Hardik Singh will miss out on the series as he continues to undergo his rehab for an injury which he sustained during the Summer Games. Krishna Bahadur Pathak and Suraj Karkera will continue to guard the goal posts while Jarmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Harmanpreet among others will form the defence lineup.

Speaking during the squad announcement, coach Craig Fulton expressed excitement on the world champions, Germany visiting India. “We are excited to take on Germany in the national capital next week. India and Germany have shared a strong rivalry in recent years and we are upbeat about playing in New Delhi. The team we have picked is an experienced one, with several players from the bronze-medal winning Paris Olympics squad,” said Chief Coach Craig Fulton.

“We will also have Rajinder and Aditya make their international debut during this series, they have shown a lot of promise during the training camp and we share their excitement as they prepare to earn their first jersey with the Indian team,” he further added.  The Men in Blue are coming after claiming back-to-back titles at the Asian Champions Trophy in Hulunbuir, China after his bronze medal win at the Paris Olympic Games in August this year.
