Fans present at the Maharashtra Cricket Stadium teased Shubman Gill by calling rumoured girlfriend Sara Tendulkar’s name in the second Test. After a historic defeat against New Zealand in the opening game of the series, India were up against their counterparts for the second game. The sides locked horns in the second game of the series beginning on October 24 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. In the second match, the side would aim to level the series, to continue their 12-year home-win streak in the longest format.
The game saw Shubman Gill returning to the squad after missing the series opener due to a stiff neck. During the match, fans didn’t miss a chance to tease Gill by the name of his rumoured girlfriend Sara Tendulkar, daughter of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. When Gill was fielding near the boundary line in the first session of the game, the crowd present at the stadium erupted into the chants of “Humari bhabhi kaisi ho, Sara bhabhi jaisi ho.” Notably, rumours of Gill dating Tenulkar made headlines for quite some time.
We take a lot of positives from that: Rohit Sharma reflects upon loss in first game
The game saw New Zealand skipper Tom Latham winning the toss and inviting the side to put the score on the board first. During the toss, Indian skipper reflected upon the loss in first game and said, “When you play a Test match like that, the first session didn't go our way. But we batted well in the second innings. We take a lot of positives from that and see how we can turn things around here. Always want to find ways to get back into the Test match when you're behind. That's what we did. Pitch is a little drier, yes. We do understand how important the first 10 overs are.”
