The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has reached its penultimate stage and with one final stretch, speculation around MS Dhoni’s future in the tournament has begun to circulate. However, there remains to be uncertainty on MS Dhoni’s future in the cash-rich league, former India cricketer Robin Uthappa has now opened up about it.

The former CSK batter while speaking on JioCinema, quashed rumours around MS Dhoni’s retirement. Uthappa, who was confident while speaking on MS’s future and said, “Coming to CSK, is this MS’s last run? I don’t think so, personally. But, do they want to spoil RCB’s party? Definitely. Ruturaj, I think, would want to get to the knockout stage in his first season as captain. That will be a huge confidence booster for him and CSK. It’s one for the long run. Let’s see where that goes.” 

Earlier, former India and CSK batter Suresh Raina also refuted reports of IPL 2024 being MS Dhoni’s last season. Speaking during CSK’s last league match at the Chepauk Stadium was asked by former Tamil Nadu cricketer Abhinav Mukund that “Is this MS Dhoni’s last game here at Chepauk?”

Here the former Indian batter just dropped a two-word reply and said, “Definitely Not”, video of which went viral on social media.

The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Chennai Super Kings are placed fourth in the IPL 2024 standings with 14 points from 13 games. They have won seven games and lost six and will play their final league match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, May 18.
