The fixtures for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 have been announced. The tournament is set to be played from October 17 to November 14 in Oman and the United Arab Emirates. Moreover, the much-awaited high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan will take place on October 24. Last month, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had announced the groups for the world event which is being hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) outside their home country owing to the COVID-19 crisis.

While Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands and Namibia have been placed in Group A of Round 1, Bangladesh, Scotland, Papua New Guinea and Oman are in Group B of Round 2. Two teams each from these two groups will meet the other eight teams that have already qualified for the main draw.

At the main draw or Super 12s, England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, A1 and B2 are in Group 1, while, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, A2 and B1 are in Group 2.

"It is good to get Oman in the frame of world cricket with the hosting of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. It will help a lot of young players take an interest in the game. We know it will be a world-class event in this part of the world," BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said.

Meanwhile, Khalid Al Zarooni, the Vice President of the Emirates Cricket Board said: "Understanding the current sporting climate, in such unprecedented times, Emirates Cricket congratulates the ICC, the BCCI and the respective teams on today's ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 groupings' announcement."

"Looking at these groups we anticipate a highly competitive, thoroughly enjoyable spectacle of international cricket. This is truly an aspirational tournament and one the wider UAE Cricket team is extremely excited to be involved in," he added.

The venues for the world event include the Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi as well as the Sharjah Stadium in UAE. Moreover, the Oman Cricket Academy Ground will also host Round 1 matches of the marquee tournament.
