South Africa defeated Afghanistan in their last match of the league stage in ODI World Cup 2023 with the help of four-wicket haul from Gerald Coetzee (4/44) and a brilliant unbeaten 76-run knock from Rassie van der Dussen, which played a vital role in the run-chase. Initially, Afghanistan winning the toss opted to bat first and managed to post a total of 244 runs on board with the help of unbeaten 97-run knock from Azmatullah Omarzai.

South Africans chased down 245-run target with only 15 balls to spare as they struggled to play spin bowling attack of Rashid Khan (2/35) and Mohammad Nabi (2/37), while Mujeeb Ur Rahman also dismissed South African skipper Temba Bavuma.
