Shaheen Afridi, the captain of Lahore Qalandars, has sounded quite confident about his team’s chances of clinching the title of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, which will begin on Friday, April 11. The 24-year-old spoke about the importance of fielding in the build-up to the coveted tournament, pointing out how if their fielding is strong, then they will end up winning the title in the upcoming season.
Notably, Shaheen Afridi was a part of the Pakistan squad for the recently concluded five-match T20I series in New Zealand, which they lost 4-1. The left-arm pacer played four out of five matches in the series, but his bowling returns were quite disappointing as he picked up just two wickets, which was far from enough for Pakistan to pose a stiff challenge to the BlackCaps.
If we put in effort in fielding, we will win: Shaheen Afridi
While speaking to his Lahore Qalandars teammates on the sidelines of a practice session, a video of which was shared by the franchise on their official X account, Shaheen Afridi explained the value of fielding well to them, which could lead them to the title win according to him. He said to them, “If our fielding is strong, no team can defeat us. I don't know how to teach you batting and bowling, but if we put in effort in fielding, we will win.”

Moreover, Lahore Qalandars will play the opening match of the tournament against defending champions Islamabad United at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in just six days’ time.
