Wasim Jaffer, the former Indian cricketer, hit back at his English counterpart Michael Vaughan for taunting him about India’s recent 0-2 loss in a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The 46-year-old spoke about how England have won zero Test matches in Australia in the last 12 years during the Ashes series, just like India were unable to win an ODI in Sri Lanka earlier this month.
Notably, in the three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka, the Indian cricket team were unable to chase down three totals in the range of 225-250. The highly recognised Indian batting lineup succumbed to the impressive spin bowling from the Sri Lankan bowlers in helpful conditions.
In a recent AMA session from Wasim Jaffer on the social media platform X, Michael Vaughan taunted him in a post, which read, “Hi Wasim .. What was the recent ODI series result in Sri Lanka? I have been away and missed it .. Hope all is well.” Vaughan was pointing out the ODI series result from earlier this month in Sri Lanka, which didn’t go the way of India.
It led to a stern response from Jaffer, in regard to England’s performances in the Ashes series down under, which read, “I'll put it in Ashes terms for you Michael. Ind won as many games in that series as the Tests Eng have won in Aus in last 12 years”.
The last three Ashes series in Australia have been won by the hosts in a convincing manner. Out of the 15 Tests against England, the Australian cricket team have won 13 and drawn two on their home soil.
