The Indian cricket team is unlikely to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 with the Indian government’s stance remaining the same about travelling to the country. Notably, due to the strained diplomatic relations between both nations, India and Pakistan don’t play any bilaterals and play each other in international tournaments only. Last year, India didn’t travel to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup and played all their matches in Sri Lanka.
According to Sportstar, the BCCI wants India’s fixtures to be played at a neutral venue, in Sri Lanka or the United Arab Emirates. The reports further state that the Indian board will formally convey this to the ICC in the meeting, which will take place in Colombo, next week. Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board allotted India’s games in Lahore keeping neighbours’ security in mind.
However, it seems that the BCCI is adamant about its choice of not sending its players to play in the neighbouring nation. Earlier, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla told ANI, “In the case of the Champions Trophy, we will do whatever the Government of India will tell us to do. We send our team only when the government will permit us. So. we will go according to the decision of the Indian government.”
The window from February 19 to March 9 with the reserve day on March 10 for the final has been marked for the tournament. A total of eight teams will participate in the upcoming tournament.
