Sam Curran, the Punjab Kings captain, has been fined 50 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team's Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against the Gujarat Titans at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur on April 21.

Gujarat Titans registered a comfortable three-wicket win over the Punjab Kings on Sunday and  replaced the Mumbai Indians as the sixth-placed team with a record of four wins from eight games and a net run rate of  -1.055. On the other hand, Punjab went to the ninth spot on the table as they had two wins from eight games.

After showing dissent at an umpire's decision, Curran committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding.

Talking about the match, after a 52-run opening partnership between Prabhsimran Singh (35) and Sam Curran (20), PBKS batters underwent a massive collapse and were reduced to  99-7, courtesy of the GT spinners. In the end, Harpreet Singh and Harpreet Brar added a 40-run stand that took Punjab's total to 142 runs after losing all wickets in 20 overs.

Chasing this total, Gujarat Titans had a streaky start as Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed when the score was 25. But vital knocks from Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Rahul Tewatia ensured Gujarat comfortably chased down the total in 19.1 overs.
