The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly looking to host the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction in the last week of November. It is understood that the likely date for hosting the IPL 2025 mega auction is going to be November 30, and the discussions around the venue for the highly anticipated event are underway with Dubai being the possible city to host it.

Notably, after the BCCI announced the official rules for player retention ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, all the 10 franchises are working out the possible players to retain for the new season. With the possible date and venue of the IPL 2025 mega auction being closed to finalised as per the report from the Times of India, it is likely that the teams will announce their player retention before the October 30 deadline.

SRH are reportedly expected to retain Klaasen, Cummins, and Abhishek

In one of the recent reports from ESPNcricinfo, Sunrisers Hyderabad are interested in retaining Heinrich Klaasen, captain Pat Cummins, and Abhishek Sharma as their first three priorities, while Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy are in their plans as well. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals are likely to retain Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav as their top three picks, but there is no clarity on who will be their captain in the IPL 2025 season.

Moreover, Mumbai Indians, who have recently appointed Mahela Jayawardene as their head coach, are expected to retain their captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming season of the IPL. The return of Mahela Jayawardene in the coaching role after winning three titles in the same role from 2017 to 2022, could galvanise the five-time champions to greater things in the next few years in the tournament.
